Clever Koalas - Autumn 1 - Week 5
Firstly, congratulations to Kenzie for achieving being Star of the Week this week. Kenzie received this award for always working hard in class, he is always ready to learn and confidently shares his ideas to all of the koalas. Well done for a fantastic start to Year 5 Kenzie, keep up the great attitude and effort.
Star Writer this week goes to Freya, she has been chosen for her fantastic story mountain. Freya created an excellent map of where she wants her narrative to go and used excellent handwriting.
Another congratulations to Ellie, Kenzie and Jemima for being awarded their pen licences in assembly last week – keep up the excellent handwriting. Fingers crossed there will be some more in class soon.
In English this week we have begun to plan out and write our 500 word narratives. On Monday all of the koalas drew their own story mountain highlighting the most important features they want to include in their stories. They also drew some pictures of their characters and settings to help with their descriptions.
In Maths this week we have been exploring a range of angles and using protractors to help us draw our own. The children have enjoyed using this equipment and were very confident and accurate when drawing their own angles.
On Friday afternoon the koalas all took part in creating a piece of art. You will be receiving this at home within the next week. This Christmas art will be able to be purchased online and put onto cards, wrapping paper, gift tags and mugs etc. School will receive a portion of the money made from this to go towards art resources for school.
Thank you to everyone who attended our class assembly on Wednesday – as Mrs Ratcliff stated it was one of the biggest turn outs so far this year, both Mrs Dewsbury and Mrs McIlroy really appreciate your support and the children loved seeing so many adults at the back! Well done to all of the Koalas for their enthusiasm and clear speaking voices.
Have a fantastic weekend!
