Woodpeckers Spring 1 Week 3 2026
Date: 23rd Jan 2026 @ 9:20am
This week has sped by and we are already looking forward to the weekend. The children are coming home this week with homework which looks a little bit different. The spelling lists are on a sheet with spaces for you to help them practise and the English homework is now linked to spellings that we will be doing in class from next week. There are two lists. The children know who should be tackling which list. In class this week, we have been thinking about rivers and compiling our reports about rivers. In geography, children learnt about contour lines and teh different types of mountains. Whole class reading for the remainder of this half term is based on a book called Sabryna and the Water Spirit. It is a book that makes the reader consider how we use and misuse our environment and has inspired some class discussions around our own environments. The children might be coming home with extra books to read now, as we are encouraging them to use the classroom books and library books to read for pleasure. It is great to see children enjoying reading. Please can you encourage them to read their school books at home and to take their AR reader quizzes, as this will help them to progress. They also took their OUMTC this week - not the official one just a practise. Woodpeckers did so well. There has been lots of imporvement since September.
Woodpeckers weekly attendance: 96.63%
