Week 7:

This week in English, the children have been busy writing their non-chronological reports about the Stone Age. They worked on extending their sentences using conjunctions such as but, or, and because, helping them to add more detail and explanation. They also explored using a variety of sentence starters, such as During the Stone Age, to organise their ideas clearly. The children have worked so hard and used all their wonderful knowledge about the Stone Age to write detailed sentences, incorporating a wide range of fantastic topic-specific vocabulary.

In Maths, the children learned about measurement. They learned how to accurately measure items in the classroom using a ruler, recording measurements in centimetres (cm) and metres (m). The children learned how to add and subtract measurements using some of the strategies previously taught. The children have started using Times Tables Rock Stars to carry out Soundchecks and further develop their times table fluency.

In History, the children learned about Iron Age hillforts. They learned about the features that helped to protect the village e.g the high walls and ditches. The children then worked in small teams to create their own hillforts. The children also learned about Celtic warriors, who were terrifying in battle! Can your child remember a fact about them?

In RE, the children learned about rituals and traditions that are part of Jewish tradition. They then compared their own rituals and family traditions.

In BSL, the children were practising their finger spelling and practised having conversations together. They had to greet their partner and ask them how they were. They then had to ask what their partner's name was and also finger spell their own name. They did really well!

Thank you for your continued support with helping your child complete their weekly home learning tasks and reading at least 3 times a week. It has been lovely to hear that the children have been practising playing their ukulele at home – thank you for supporting with this.
