Talented T Rex Autumn 1 Week 4
Date: 1st Oct 2026 @ 4:04pm
Take a look at our learning this week🦖..
Maths
In Maths, we have been exploring how to count and add on from a given number. We have used a range of practical resources, including counters, Numicon, number lines and rainbow number bonds to 10, to help us develop our understanding. The children worked hard to explain their thinking and solve number problems. A special well done to Alice who showed fantastic counting-on skills using counters!
English
In English, we have been writing setting descriptions inspired by The Three Little Pigs. The children used their imaginations to describe the pigs' houses and included lots of brilliant vocabulary. We discussed different materials and their properties, and many children included materials such as wood, metal and bricks in their writing. I was very impressed with the creative ideas and descriptive language used.
Topic
This week, we became geographers! We began exploring different types of maps and discussed what they can tell us about a place. We also learned about physical features, such as rivers and hills, and human features, such as roads and buildings. The children enjoyed spotting examples of these features in the world around them.
