Talented T-Rex Summer 2 Week 6

Date: 9th Jul 2025 @ 8:29pm

Take a look at our learning this week 🦖...

Maths
This week in Maths, we’ve been looking into measurement, exploring three key areas: time, length & height, and weight. The children have particularly enjoyed using physical clocks to practise telling the time, focusing on o’clock and half-past. We also looked closely at measuring objects using rulers, making sure we started at 0cm.  A big well done to Olivia, who showed fantastic care and accuracy when using her ruler correctly!

We also compared the height of different objects in the classroom and used scales to weigh items, helping us to understand what makes something heavier or lighter. It’s been great to see the children working practically and thinking carefully as young mathematicians!

English
In English, we’ve become animal researchers! We’ve been gathering interesting facts about crocodiles, flamingos, and elephants. The children have loved discovering surprising details about these animals, and they’ve now started planning their very own animal fact files.

Topic

In our Topic work, we’ve turned into artists, inspired by the colourful and playful style of James Rizzi. The children used cardboard to build their own pop-up houses, then painted bright and bold busy house pictures filled with detail.
