A Fantastic Year 4 in Busy Bees – A Journey of Learning and Discovery!
What a brilliant year it’s been in Year 4! We’ve had a fantastic time learning, exploring, creating, and growing together.
This year, we’ve covered some truly fascinating topics. We started with Invasion, uncovering the stories of ancient civilisations and understanding how they shaped the world we live in today. Our learning took us through Misty Mountains and Winding Rivers, where we explored geography and natural landscapes. Along the way, we got stuck into a variety of exciting mini projects – from exploring the beautiful geometry of Islamic art, discovering the lives of tomb builders, to weaving through history with vista, warps and wefts.
Science has been full of experiments and hands-on learning, especially when diving into the digestive system and investigating solids, liquids, and gases. In Maths, we’ve worked hard on our times tables check, explored tricky fractions, solved word problems, tackled co-ordinates, and learned all about triangles and other shapes.
In PE, we’ve had a blast playing rounders, cricket, football, and even made a splash during swimming sessions!
Our learning didn’t stop in the classroom. We were lucky to go on several exciting trips, including the Derby Museum of Making, Derby Cathedral, and St Francis Church, which helped bring our topics to life.
We’ve also celebrated special days in style, dressing up and getting involved in Spanish Day, Red Nose Day, and International Workers’ Day – all brilliant opportunities to learn in a fun and engaging way.
Reading has been a big part of our journey this year too. We’ve enjoyed a wide range of texts that have inspired us, challenged us, and sparked our imaginations.
It’s been a year full of hard work, curiosity, creativity, and fun. We are so proud of everything we’ve achieved in Year 4 and are excited for what lies ahead in Year 5!
Have a wonderful summer – you’ve earned it!
Next week we will be enjoying a movie afternoon on Wednesday in the classroom. Please provide your child with a small snack - not nuts or chocolate based - to have during the film.
