Summer 2 Week 7
Date: 17th Jul 2025 @ 3:52pm
Week 7:
In English this week, the children have been busy writing their set of instructions for how to look after a zoo animal. They took care to write an equipment list and thought carefully to make sure they wrote each step clearly so the reader can understand what to do. They then published their instructions ready for them to be made into a book for the library.
In Maths, the children learned how to convert analogue time into digital time. They learned that a time happens twice e.g 2 o’clock could be in the morning or in the afternoon but it is shown differently on a digital clock (2:00am or 14:00pm). They also learned how to read Roman numerals and answered questions involving this.
In Design Technology, the children explored a range of greenhouse structures, comparing the Eden Project in Cornwall with the Great Conservatory at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. They examined the materials used in each and discussed their design features. Inspired by what they learned, the children then created their own greenhouse designs, which they will begin building next week using wood and plastic.
In PE this week, the children used gymnastic moves that they’ve learned previously to create a sequence of movements. They then got into pairs and created a sequence of movements to present to the class.
In RE, the children wrote a postcard after our ‘visit’ to the River Ganges. They explained what they saw and how it made them feel.
On Friday, the children will be having great fun carrying out some Roman games, activities and even a Roman banquet to celebrate the end of our topic.
