Summer 2 Week 5

This week has seen the start of our Year 5 pupils’ BSL 101 Young Person exams.  They have all worked incredibly hard to learn the signs and skills that are needed to achieve this conversational assessment.  They have had to discuss their hobbies and school subjects, along with general information (name, age).  There is much for them to remember, including ensuring that they ask different questions to their teacher to show that they have a wider vocabulary and understanding.  Equally, they have mastered the often dreaded directions, knowing how to explain the way to a different room in school. 

These skills will not only support them in their BSL conversations, but also in preparation for when they start secondary school and learn other examined languages.
