Summer 2 - Week 3
Date: 20th Jun 2025 @ 1:00pm
What a very busy week we’ve had!
The children had an exciting visitor on Monday! The children had a visit from Gregorios Maximus who led lots of exciting activities. The children got to dress up as Roman soldiers and learned how to march, they explored Roman artifacts, learned how to write their name using the Roman alphabet and played a game of Knucklebones with their friends. It was lovely to see the children share lots of key facts that they’d remembered from our History lessons; well done everyone!
In English, the children created their own Mythical creature. First, they drew a detailed picture and then had lots of fun making the creature from clay. This helped their design come to life and helped them describe their creature in great detail, using interesting adjective choices. The children also planned ideas for their own Roman Myth, which they’ll be writing next week.
In Maths, the children learned about the months of the year. Ask your child if they can remember how many days are in a particular month using the ‘knuckle’ method or the song we learned! The children also began to recap how to read and write time, including 5 minute intervals. We will continue to practise this next week, so keep practising!
In topic this week we have looked at how to keep safe in the sun. We used our computing skills to create a presentation with animations and images to show people how they can stay safe from the sun. We also looked at shadows; what they are and how they are created.
Well done to everyone for participating in Sports Day on Wednesday! It was lovely to see the children cheering their friends on!
