Talented T-Rex Summer 1 Week 5
Date: 21st May 2025 @ 9:43pm
Take a look at our learning this week 🦖...
Maths
In Maths this week, Year 1 focused on telling the time. We practised reading both analogue and digital clocks, concentrating on telling the time to the hour and half-hour. We also explored the concept of position. The children described the position of objects using words like “next to,” “in front of,” and “behind,” and we even included half, and quarter turns to describe movement.
English
In English, we’ve finished writing our magical school stories! The children have worked hard to make their stories creative and fun, and they can’t wait to showcase their fantastic work at the Year 1 Showcase. It’s going to be so exciting to share everything we’ve written recently!
Topic
This week, T-Rex have been learning about the remarkable Sam Wilderspin, who made a huge difference to schools during the Victorian era. Before Sam’s ideas, schools didn’t have playtime or playgrounds for children. Thanks to his work, children were given the opportunity to take breaks, play, and have fun while still learning. Well done to Michael, who shared some lovely comments about Sam and the changes he made to improve schools, it was great to hear your ideas.
