Summer 1 Week 3

This week is Deaf Awareness week.  We started it on Monday with a whole school assembly, dispelling some common myths about BSL, deafness and lip reading. 

We have also continued our support of the British Deaf Association’s ‘#BSL In our hands’ campaign, calling for all deaf children and their parents to have the opportunity to learn BSL.  BSL teachers have chosen a couple of children who have been working hard in each BSL class to add their painted handprints to our whole school banner.  We have also asked children to create posters at home with their hands and the phrase #BSL In our Hands.  We hope to share these around school and also with the British Deaf Association. 

Finally, we have added sign graphics of all staff members’ sign names by the room that they work in.  Ask your child(ren) what their teacher’s sign name is!
