Summer 1 - Week 3
Date: 1st May 2026 @ 8:16am
In English this week, the children have been busy writing their diary entry. They have written from the perspective of a Roman soldier, before their battle against Boudicca and the Iceni tribe. They applied their learning from the last couple of weeks, making sure they used past tense verbs, interesting adjective choices and emotive language.
In Maths, the children recapped division, using the bus stop method. We then moved onto calculations with remainders. All the children worked super hard on this!
In History, the children continued their learning of the Romans. They explored why the Romans wanted to invade Scotland and why they were unsuccessful. They also learned about why Emperor Hadrian built Hadrian's Wall and its significance. The children also explored life in a Roman fort by using historical research.
Please continue to support your child with their home learning, spellings and reading each week. Home learning tasks are given out every Friday and are due the following Friday. We are using the iPads regularly in different subjects so please remind your child to recharge their iPad so that is ready to use at school each day.
