Summer 1 Week 2

Date: 1st May 2025 @ 3:44pm

In English this week, the children have been exploring the features of a diary entry. They have practised writing sentences using fronted adverbials, e.g At dawn, the soldiers prepared for war!  They have also practised using the first-person pronoun ‘I’ to write sentences. We wrote an example of a diary entry as a class pretending to be Boudicca and the commander of the Roman army.

In Maths, the chidren recapped how to solve multiplication questions such as 24 x 5 = using the column method. They also practised how to use bus stop division to solve division questions such as 42 divided by 2.

In History, the children learned about life in the Roman army. They also learned about the first invasions of Britain when the Roman Emperor, Julius Caesar, failed to conquer Britain. The children also explored Boudicca’s rebellion when she fought against Roman Emperor Nero to regain her land.

In PSHE, the children learned about the importance of family. The children talked about the important members of their family and the things those people do to care for them. We also looked at pictures of a range of different family units and discussed how families can come in diverse forms, but the main thing is that everyone loves one another.

In RE, the children have learned about Hinduism. This week, we learned about the different Gods and Goddesses that Hindus worship.

Please continue to support your child with their home learning and spellings each week. These tasks are given out every Thursday and are due the following Thursday. We are using the iPads regularly in different subjects so please remind your child to recharge their iPad so that is ready to use at school each day.

Many thanks,
