Summer 1 Week 2

Date: 25th Apr 2024 @ 8:31am

What a wonderful week in Bears!

In Literacy, Reception have been reading all about Shadows.  The children have learnt how to create their own shadow by using the sun or torch as a light source. Following this week's story 'Shadows', the children went outside and investigated all of the wonderful things they could do with their shadow e.g. run, jump, twirl and hide.  Later on in the week the children did a piece of writing about their shadow and shared their favourite activity.

In Maths, the children have been learning all about halving.  We started the week by halving foods on the IWB.  Yazn spotted when we split a pizza in two halves we got 2 pieces.  Well spotted!  We then investigated how to halve with practical counting equipment such as beanbags, stones and cotten reels.  The children quickly realised that halving is the opposite of doubling (last week's learning).

A big thank you to all those parents who came to our forest parental engagement session on Wednesday.  We really enjoyed seeing the parents and children working together to find such a wide variety of bugs and insects in the Enchanted Burrow.

Caterpillar update:  Our caterpillars are continuing to grow at a rapid pace and can now be seen crawling up and down the lid.  Hopefully it will not be too long before they start to form a chrysalis!
