Summer 1 Week 1

In Maths this week, have been working on areas we found difficult in our assessment. We recapped our negative numbers and solved some addition and subtraction questions using them.  The children also used formal written methods to calculate addition and subtraction questions with 2 4-digit numbers. 

 
In English this week, we have learnt that we will be writing a narrative poem about Ancient Sumer. The children have listened to famous poems and given their opinions of them. We have also looked at the features that they need to entertain us. 

We have started our new topic ‘Ancient Civilisations’ with an immersive dress up day where the children learnt about Egyptians. 

In Computing, we started out Animation topic on Purple Mash. We learnt about FPS (Frames per Second) and made a simple smiling face animation.
