Summer 1 Week 1

Maths 
In Maths lessons this week, Bees Class have been recapping a variety of mathematical skills. Earlier this week, Bees practiced column addition and subtraction. On Thursday, our Ancient Civilisations Day, we looked at the hieroglyphs that represented different numbers and used these to work out how we can write numbers as hieroglyphs.  

English 
In English this week, Bees Class heard that Horrible Histories are wanting non-chronological reports all about Ancient Sumer for a new show they are making. We revisited the features of a non-chronological reports and learned some facts about Ancient Sumer that we can use in our writing.  

Other Subjects 
This week in Topic we have started our brand-new Topic ‘Ancient Civilisations’. First, we began learning about Ancient Sumer, and about all the things they invented, from the wheel to using sundials to tell the time.  

On Thursday, we had our ‘Ancient Civilisations Day’ where we came dressed as Ancient Egyptians and learned all about Ancient Civilisations. As part of the day, we baked our own Egyptian flatbreads and crafted our own Ancient Egyptian necklaces and headdresses. It was amazing seeing your amazing outfits Bees!
