Summer 1 Week 1

In Maths this week, we recapped our negative numbers and solved some addition and subtraction questions.  The children also used formal written methods to calculate addition and subtraction questions with 2 4-digit numbers. On Friday we did usual times tables lesson focussing on our 6s.

In English this week, we learnt that we are going to be writing a humorous explanation text. We looked at the features of an explanation text and created a list what we need to include. We had fun following instructions about how to make a mummy.

We have started our new topic ‘Ancient Civilisations’ with an immersive dress up day where the children learnt about Egyptians which included making our own bread and building a pyramid.

In RE, we discussed why people have rules about right and wrong. We then picked three rules that we thought were the most important and explained why.
