Summer 1, Week 4 Blog
English: This week in English, the children explored newspaper articles. They learned about the important features, including the headline, introduction paragraph, speech from the eye witnesses and how to order events using fronted adverbials.
Maths: This week, we recapped addition and subtraction. We focussed on the column method and practised what to do when you needed to regroup. The children remembered that they needed to put a spare ten on the ‘doorstep’ or borrow a ten or hundred when needed. They also had a go at solving addition and subtraction worded problems.
History: The children learned about life in Roman Britain including town life vs country life, religion, culture and family life. They then explored the inventions that the Romans brought to England including aqueducts, underfloor heating and even toilets!
R.E: This week the children have learnt about Jewish festivals. The children learnt about how Rosh Hashanah and Pesach are celebrated and why they are important celebrations in the Jewish community. They compared these celebrations with Christmas and Eid and discussed how they were similar/different.
Spanish:The children learnt to say the names of fruits.
Computing: In computing this week we have continued our lessons on coding. The children learnt how to use the repeat comman and make an animal move up and down on repeat.
