Starfish Summer 1, Week 7
Date: 16th Jul 2026 @ 6:21pm
Arts Week!
What a fantastic and slightly different week it has been in Year 2! As it was Arts Week, we put our usual timetable to one side and spent the week exploring our creativity through a range of exciting art activities.
Our theme for the week was "Angry Animals", and the children loved learning how to express emotion through their artwork. They worked with a variety of different media, including sketching, collage and oil pastels, to create some truly impressive pieces. We saw magnificent sharks, roaring lions and powerful elephants brought to life through the children's imagination and creativity. The effort, concentration, and artistic skills on display were wonderful to see, and every child should be very proud of their achievements.
To celebrate all their hard work, we finished the week with an Arts Gallery for the whole school. It was lovely to see so many parents and family members attend and admire the children's artwork. The children were incredibly excited to showcase their creations and talk about the techniques they had used.
We were also lucky to have two special PE lessons with DCCT this week. From relay races, to throwing activities to completing the ‘joy of movement’ project- we really did have a great time- although a little exhausted by the end of it!
A huge well done to all the Sharks for their enthusiasm and creativity throughout the week. We have thoroughly enjoyed coming off timetable and making memories together.
And finally... only 3 days to go! We are looking forward to making the most of every moment together before the end of the school year.
