Starfish Summer 1, Week 3
Date: 19th Jun 2026 @ 12:00pm
A great week!
In Maths this week, we have been learning how to tell the time, focusing on quarter past and quarter to the hour. The children practised reading clocks and understanding that:
· Quarter past means 15 minutes after the hour
· Quarter to means 15 minutes to the next hour
We used clocks, games and real-life examples to help us learn, and many children are becoming much more confident at telling the time. Keep practising at home if you can!
In English, we continued exploring the exciting world of fantasy castles. The children have been working hard to plan detailed descriptions, using powerful adjectives and their imaginations. We thought about what castles look like, the sounds you might hear, and even the atmosphere inside! The children also drew their fantasy castles for writing inspiration- they looked amazing!
We have seen some fantastic ideas, including descriptions of:
· Tall, towering walls
· Dark, mysterious dungeons
· Grand halls with shining armour
The children used their senses to make their planning ideas vivid and engaging. We can’t wait for their ideas to be turned into published next week!
