Starfish Spring 2, Week 4
Date: 19th Mar 2026 @ 2:04pm
A busy week!
We started our week by learning about EID. In our R.E lesson, we made EID boxes, decorating them with bright colours and patterns. We learnt about delicious food, collecting money for charity, henna patterns and much more.
In Maths, we focused our learning on time. We revisited O’clock, half past and quarter past times. The children have been making times on real life clocks, writing the time in words and digitally in numbers. We linked our time work to our fraction work from last week too- really emphasises the words- half past and quarter past. By the end of the week, the children were able to use the class clock to say times during the school day. We will be moving on to quarter to times next half term (this is usually the one that most children find tricky).
In English, we have started a new unit of work based on a magical island. The children have been practising descriptive language- focusing heavily on adjectives and powerful verbs. We orally practised our sentences out loud, spoke about how to improve them further and wrote them down, thinking carefully about punctuation and live editing. The children had amazing ideas, and we are so proud of their writing.
We continued with our gymnastics lessons with the DCCT coach. This week focusing on rolls. We practised pencil and teddy rolls, ready to move on to forward rolls next week.
On Thursday, the children all looked great in their ‘red’ outfits and thoroughly enjoyed designing their own red noses. Winners will be announced next week.
