Starfish Autumn 2, Week 6

Date: 11th Dec 2025 @ 8:58am

We have had a very busy week in the Starfish class. From nativity rehearsals to food making, to measuring- we have not stopped!

The children have been singing, dancing and acting all week and put on a brilliant nativity for the rest of the school on Friday. We were proud of all the children and cannot wait for you to see it next week.

In Maths, we have been measuring in cm and m, weighing in grams and using ml and L to learn all about volume. The children have really enjoyed the practical activities that they have taken part in- including estimating and measuring classroom objects and looking at different types of liquids. They then had to look at the different scales that are used and the amounts that they go up in- 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s. We were really impressed with the children’s ability to read these different scales and how they used their multiplication knowledge to support this.

In English, we have planned out letters to the giants ready for us to write and publish at the beginning of next week. The children have continued to amaze us with their understanding of deforestation and their ability to think from ‘both’ sides- the animals and the giants.

For our mini project this week, we focused on DT and understanding why and how we cook foods and following recipes. We had the MOST fun making and eating popcorn, followed by munching on delicious banana splits!
