Starfish Autumn 2, Week 5
Date: 4th Dec 2025 @ 4:08pm
The Super Starfish have been extremely busy practising the Nativity. They now know all the songs (singing them beautifully) and most children know their lines without having to look at their piece of paper- an amazing achievement! We will continue practising next week and are very much looking forward to the dress rehearsal in front of the rest of school- next Friday.
Even though we have been busy with the play, we have continued our learning too! In Maths we have focused on the fraction a third. We found a third of different shapes and then moved our learning on to finding a third of numbers. Just like with a half and a quarter last week, we did this using our division sharing method. The children have really impressed us with their independence in completing their fraction work. We have also continued our speedy doubles work. The children have actions to help them remember their doubles from 6-12- see if they can teach you them a home!
In English, we have been focusing on letter writing- studying all the key features of a letter and finding them in example texts. So far, we have focused on questions and verbs. We have thought carefully about questions to ask the Giant from our deforestation story using the words- when, why, how and where. For our verb work, we acted out different verbs like jump, bounce, walk, run, hop etc. We then linked them to our story and the actions the characters were doing. Nex week, we will begin writing our very own letters!
