Starfish Autumn 2, Week 4

Date: 27th Nov 2025 @ 5:26pm

We have had a very busy week of rehearsals! The children have not stopped singing and rehearing lines all week! We have two main songs to sing in the nativity, and we have been practising getting our pitch and note duration perfect. We really do have some singing super stars in Year 2!

In Maths, we have started our learning on fractions which we will continue into next week. We have learnt how to recognise a half and a quarter of shapes and how to find halves and quarters of numbers. We have linked our division strategy to finding fractions of numbers. The children have done this amazingly! Next week, we are moving on to thirds.

In English, we published our ‘porridge pot’ stories. The children used their absolute best handwriting to publish their amazing versions of the story. We are really impressed with their handwriting and will continue to practise ascending and descending letters. We have also started our new unit of work on deforestation. We will be learning the key features of letter writing and will eventually be writing our very own letters!

We have continued our team building skills in PE, again focusing on our communication skills. The children really had to trust each other this week as they had to close their eyes and listen to their partner guide them to safety (otherwise the sharks in the water would have eaten them!) It was a fun lesson, with some great teamwork shown!
