Spring 2 Week 5

Date: 28th Mar 2024 @ 4:22pm

Maths
In Maths lessons this week, Bees Class have learned all about acute, obtuse and right angles. Later on in the week we had a go at ordering and comparing the size of the angles. On Thursday, Bees re-visited co-ordinates and how to answer questions by translating points to different co-ordinates.

English
In English this week, Bees Class have continued their learning all about poems. We looked at Acrostic poems and Haiku poems. We enjoyed thinking up different themes and writing a poem for these. Everyone did really well!

Other Subjects
This week in Topic we have started our project Art ‘Animals’. First we looked at different types of sketching pencils and then we used  these to sketch a picture of a horse and a dog. We started with circles and gradually began joining these up to make an outline. Finally we shaded the animals to make them look realistic.

Hook Day

Our topic next term is Ancient Civilisations, and one of the civilisations we will be learning all about are the Ancient Egyptians. To begin our new topic with an exciting hook, we will have an Ancient Civilisations Day where children will be able to dress up as an Ancient Egyptian.

This will be on Thursday 18th April 2024 (The first Thursday back after half term)

Children can come either in costume or clothes similar to what the Ancient Egyptians wore. The children will also make their own Ancient Egyptian style headdress or collar on the day.

As well as themed Maths and English, and craft activities, the children be making an Ancient Egyptian style flatbread. The recipe includes plain flour, salt, yeast and olive oil. We will send out a form on the first week back so you can let us know if your child has an allergy to any of these ingredients.

We can’t wait to see your fabulous outfits!

Thank you Busy Bees for a wonderful week! Have a lovely break and we will see you after the Easter holidays!
