Week 2
English:
This week in English, the children looked more closely at the story Escape from Pompeii. They sequenced the story events to help them understand the key moments. They also learned how to write a detailed setting description of Rome in AD 79 and explored character descriptions, using interesting adjectives to describe appearance and personality.
Maths:
In Maths, the children revisited addition and subtraction. They practised using the column methods, remembering to exchange correctly. They worked hard to apply these strategies and used their skills to solve word problems.
Science:
This week was British Science Week. The children had great fun conducting an experiment to find out which mode of transport drifted to the ground the fastest—a paper aeroplane, glider, or helicopter. They used a stopwatch to measure and record the time for each.
In addition, the children continued their learning about magnets. They carried out an investigation to find out which magnet was the strongest, using a force meter to measure their results.
Reminders:
• Please remember that PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Please support your child in completing their home learning tasks, including reading at least three times a week.
Thank you for your continued support.
