Spring 1 Week 4

Date: 1st Feb 2024 @ 9:03am

In Literacy this week, we have been reading the wonderful 'Owl Babies' story.  The children were fantastic at using this as a starting point to research all about owls.  We were able to find out that: owls hunt at night, they eat small animals such as mice and voles and they cannot move their eyes.  Julian was able to tell me that owls have "sharp claws" and "brown feathers".  Wow Julian these are great comments!  The children found it particularly funny listening to all of the different noises and calls an owl makes.

This week in Maths, the children have been learning to find 'one less' than a given number.  The children had great fun spotting Mrs Pericleous' mistakes when counting objects and finding one less.  The Bears also had a go at being an owl baby on the branch and then flying away one at a time.

Through our story this week, we have focussed on emotions.  The children were really confident at voicing their thoughts on a time when they felt brave.  Arthur said he felt brave when he "had to go in a new car for the first time".
