Spring 1 Week 4

Date: 30th Jan 2026 @ 5:14pm

Well done on all your hard work this week Busy Bees!

Maths

This week in Maths, the children have been looking at using the bus stop method to help them divide. At the start of the week, the children focused on dividing two and three digit numbers by a signle digit with no remianders. Children then progressed into dividing two and three digit numbers with remainders - this was a little trickier! The children have done a brilliant job and have demonstrated a good understanding through their reasoning. On Friday, the children contnued practising their times table - with a focus on the 7's this week - there was some excellent dancing going on in the classroom to help rememmber some of the multiples.

English

In English, the children started their new writing topic - an adventure narrative. During the next few weeks, the children will be developing their skills ready to plan, edit and write an adventure narrative, aiming to entertain the reader. The children are very excited as these stories will then be sent to Julia Donaldson! The children have begun to explore the example text 'Trapped' and have been adjective, adverbial and conjunction detectives. On Tuesday, the children created some excellent features bookmarks which they will then be able to use when drafting and writing their own narratives. On Wednesday, the children had a mystery guest come in to talk them all about mountain expeditions. The children asked some fantastic questions and are eager to take som eof this information and use in their own mountain adventure stories.

We are coming to the last few sessions of our swimming lessons and I just want to take the time to say what an absolute joy it has been to see how much progress the children have made! We had some children that started the year very anxious and nervous to get in the water and they are now confidently entering the pool and swimming some lengths independently with the use of floats. Well done Bees! This week is PE, the children have continued to work on thier water cyle dance. I was extremely impressed with some of the movements and routines they have come up with independently and I cannot wait to see the final result!
