Spring 1 Week 3

Date: 25th Jan 2024 @ 4:40pm

Super sharks have been doing more super learning this week!

In maths, we have been working on selecting the most appropriate method to solve different worded problems. We have read the problems carefully, identified the key words and applied methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. A big well done to Phoebe and Irene who managed to solve some very complicated two step problems! Great work girls!

In English, we have been busy writing our new stories ready to entertain year 1 children. We have taken inspiration from the story Sally and the Limpet and written our own. Amelia has worked really hard to change the setting of the story from a beach to a jungle with a very cheeky monkey! We have applied all the skills we learnt last week, including expanded noun phrases and time adverbials, to write our wonderful stories.

We had a very exciting topic lesson on Thursday; we were geographers and artists! We shared the story of The Great Wave inspired by Hokusai. We then used different warm and cool colours to create our own painting of the waves. Jaden worked incredibly hard to work with care and accuracy when using the paints. Well done Jaden!
