Spring 1 Week 2
Date: 14th Jan 2026 @ 8:09pm
English
This week in English, we have been exploring how to use exclamation marks to add excitement to our writing. The children practised using these in sentences alongside adjectives to engage the reader. We linked this learning to our topic on London landmarks, planning exciting sentences that we will use to create a published piece of writing next week. Well done to Isabel, who shared some fantastic ideas when describing Buckingham Palace, including “white, golden pillars”.
Maths
In Maths, we have been developing our skills in adding 1- and 2-digit numbers, as well as solving missing number problems. The children worked hard to explain their thinking and show their methods clearly.
Topic
For our topic, ‘Bright Lights, Big City’, we have continued learning interesting facts about famous London landmarks. We have also been monitoring the weather across the UK by keeping weather diaries, helping us to observe and compare weather patterns.
