Spring 1 Week 1

This week in Maths, Reception have been looking at ‘whole’ numbers and how these can be split into smaller parts. 

The Bears started their week by using beanbags and digit cards to look at all the different ways we could make five.  We played a game where we counted five beanbags, covered them with a blanket and made some disappear.  The children had to work out how many had been taken. Logan was able to give excellent reasoning for his answers.  How clever!

In Literacy, we have read the story of ‘The Way Back Home’.  The story follows a boy who flies up to moon and meets an alien.  The children were able to give fantastic descriptions of space following our topic work this week.  The boy and martian also help each other to get back home and the children had lovely ideas to share about friendship.

The children have really enjoyed sharing their holiday news and settling back into their everyday routines.  They have been doing a fantastic job of working together and being a brilliant team.  Well done Bears!
