Sharks Summer 2 Week 2

Date: 10th Jun 2026 @ 2:57pm

Busy, Busy, Busy!

We started this week off a little differently! On Monday, we had some special visitors come in to school to show us how to make bread. The children loved learning about the process and were all given a turn to make some of their very own. It was a wonderful hands-on experience, and best of all, the bread was absolutely delicious! We would definitely like to do it again!

This week in maths, we have continued our work on weight and mass. The children enjoyed using kitchen scales to weigh a range of foods and were able to practise reading and comparing measurements in a practical, hands-on way. We also completed some mini quizzes to help us see just how much maths learning we have remembered throughout the year. We are very proud of the children for all of their hard work and for how much progress they have made.

In English, we have started our exciting new unit of work on fantasy castles. The children began by looking at some fantastic examples to inspire their ideas and enjoyed magpying some super expanded noun phrases for our class wall, which will hopefully make their writing even more vivid and imaginative! We have also focused on present tense and punctuation – making sure our castle sentences are structured correctly.

In PSHE, we have continued our work on loss and change. The children have approached this sensitive subject with great maturity, and we have been very impressed by their thoughtful attitudes and willingness to share some of the changes and losses they have experienced in their own lives. They have shown kindness, respect and empathy when listening to one another- well done Sharks!
