Sharks Summer 1 Week 6

Date: 25th May 2026 @ 8:31pm

Half term- we made it!

We really have had a busy week to finish our half term! From Forest school to attendance treats, to setting up our new look classroom- we are all definitely ready for a break!

During this half last term, the Sharks have continued to have amazing attendance. For their class treat- a class movie was chosen- which they thoroughly enjoyed. We are so proud of the children coming to school, ready to learn, with smiles on their faces. We hope to get another attendance treat next half term too- fingers crossed!

The Sharks completed their Forest school unit of work this week too. I can’t tell you how much fun we have had! From creating portraits with sticks, to bug hunting, to den making- we really have done it all! We are so proud of the Sharks for showing such a caring and kind attitude towards the insects and the area itself. We didn’t quite get to hold our campfire (due to wet conditions) but we are hoping to move this session to next half term.

In maths, we recapped our shape work, looking at both 2D and 3D shapes. We revised their properties, then used this knowledge to sort the shapes into a Venn diagram. At first, we found it quite tricky (especially if the shapes didn’t fit into either of the Venn’s circles) but with practise and great discussion – we got there! We were really impressed with the vocabulary the children were using to describe the shapes.

In English, the children wrote instructions for the monarch board games that they made in their Topic lessons. The games that they produced were fantastic, with both negative and positive facts included and some great rewards like move forward 4 and some harsh consequences like go back to the start! The instructions that the children wrote had clear time adverbials (first, next etc) and were easy for their friends and family to follow. A great job Sharks!

We look forward to seeing the children back in school on Tuesday 4th June- for our final half term together!
