Sharks Summer 1 Week 5
Date: 13th May 2026 @ 1:08pm
Working hard!
Due to our Year 6 children completing their SATs tests, we have had a bit of a different week! The children have been excellent during these changes to our class routines, and we are very proud of how hard they have worked.
In maths, we have had a week of counting and applying our x2, x5 and x10 knowledge. We have been counting forwards and backwards in these steps, as well as placing them into full multiplication sentences. We then moved onto reading a range of scales that went up in different steps. The children had to first work out what the scale was going up in and then find the missing number. After that- we started to apply our x2, X5 and x10 to a mixture of problem-solving questions- some of which were 2 step problems! We were really impressed at the children’s knowledge and resilience- well done Super sharks!
In English, we wrote our Paddington goes to London stories. The children had wonderful ideas, showing a far better imagination than the adults in the room! Some of the landmarks the children chose for Paddington to visit were- The London Eye, The Millenium Dome, London Bridge and The Natural History Museum. In some of their stories, Paddington was being a little naughty! The Super Sharks showed super editing skills, with many using diagonal joins for their handwriting too.
In PSHE, we continued our work on Money. We discussed WANTS and NEEDS and how these differs. By the end of the lesson, the children could say that we need food, warmth and water and that they want things like posh cars, hot holidays and yummy chocolate! We also continued our discussion from the previous work on charities, naming many that we raise money for in school.
The Year 2 staff would like to say a big thank you to everyone who raised money for the RNLI- either through money in jam jars or our wear what you want day. As a school over £400 was raised. This is a huge amount of money that the RNLI are extremely thankful for. THANK YOU for your support.
