Sharks Spring 1 Week 3
Date: 23rd Jan 2026 @ 4:24pm
Wonderful writers!
This week, we have been writing our own version of Sally and the Limpet. The Super Sharks had to first plan their ideas, then turn them into sentences (trying to include all the key features they had looked at) and finally edit and improve their final piece. The Shark’s ideas have been amazing- from starfish getting stuck on noses, to seaweed hanging on feet, to oysters sticking on cheeks- there really has been a variety of amazing ideas! The children have said how much they have enjoyed this unit of work, with a few commenting that they would like to be a published author one day!
In maths, we have continued our work on number- focusing on our number bonds. At the beginning of the week, we focused on bonds to 10 and how we can use this knowledge to help us know our bonds to 100. Some children decided to take it a step further and bond to 1000! We then moved on to bonds to 20 and within 20- challenging ourselves with missing number problems. The children worked really hard to get quicker at recalling all the bonds, and by Friday- were super speedy! Well done Sharks!
A highlight of the week was our music lesson, where the children performed ‘The Granny rap’ in groups. Not only did they have to keep in time with the beat, but they also had to speak/ rap quite quickly and do actions too! At one point in the rap- there are 2 different rap verses being said at the same time- lots of fun and the children sounded excellent! We have also continued our work on Coastlines- focusing on the RNLI and the fantastic job they do keeping people safe on the beaches. We learnt where the RNLI stations are in the UK and the role of the RNLI volunteers.
