Sharks Autumn 2 Week 1

Date: 6th Nov 2025 @ 4:31pm

Welcome back Sharks!

It has been so lovely to be back in class with the Super Sharks. They have made a super start to their mini projects. Their first project is Human Survival. The children have been learning about body parts and the human life cycle. We have been very impressed with their prior knowledge and have enjoyed extending this knowledge further. They can now name a body part and describe its job.

In maths, we have been continuing our work on addition form last half term. Our focus has been ‘mental’ maths, encouraging the children to use just their fingers to add a 2-digit number and 1 digit number together. We have also been adding 2 2-digit numbers using our partitioning method- drawing our tens and ones to help us. On Friday, we moved on to solving addition word problems. The children found these challenging, but all gave them a really good go!

In English, we have started our new narrative unit based on the story- A magic porridge pot. We even had Ms Webster making porridge in class! The children used their five senses to think of some excellent adjectives to describe the porridge- including creamy, sloppy and lumpy! We used our oracy skills to retell the story in full sentences and using the repeated phrases used in the text!

I also just wanted to mention the children’s fantastic teambuilding skills in our PE lesson. They communicated excellently with each other to all safely cross the sea and get to their pirate ship!
