Sharks Autumn 1 Week 7

Date: 24th Oct 2025 @ 4:02pm

We’ve made it!

What a busy, wonderful half term we have had! We are so proud of the progress ALL the super sharks have made- from their growing independence to the standard of the work they are producing.

We have been so impressed with the children’s confidence to answer questions and explain their thoughts. In our significant people topic, we have had some quite ‘challenging’ debates that the children were really involved in and passionate about. We finished our topic off this week, by looking at people who are still alive who are having a significant impact on the world today- from Greta Thunberg to Thimothy Berners- Lee. It was a great way to finish off the topic, especially when it was said that ‘maybe we will be a significant person for children to learn about in the future.’

In maths, we have finished the half term off by looking at both 2D and 3D shapes. We named different shapes and described their properties. We learnt the words faces, sides/edges and vertices. The children enjoyed having real life shapes to help them complete their work. We discussed everyday objects that are shaped like cubes, cylinders, spheres etc and were amazed at just how many there are!

In English, the children published their first Year 2 piece of writing by completing their Neil Armstrong non- chronological report. The children worked so hard to produce their absolute best piece of work- including using their neatest handwriting. Their resilience and independence during this writing unit has amazed us- well done sharks!

The children have worked so hard this half term, they are very ready for a break! Have a relaxing half term Super Sharks. We look forward to seeing you back on Tuesday 4th November.
