Sharks Aut 1 Week 4
Date: 2nd Oct 2025 @ 4:23pm
A busy week!
We’ve had a great week again! In English, we wrote the final part of our Magic Paint Brush stories. The children thought of some excellent ‘happy’ endings- from chocolate coins growing on trees, to celebratory parties, to cooking up a mighty feast! What amazing imaginations the children have!
In maths, we have been focusing on taking away. We have looked at different vocabulary that means the same- subtract and minus. We have taken away a 1-digit number from a 2-digit number (35-6=), multiples of 10 from a 2-digit number and partitioning 2 2digit numbers (46-13=). Like last week, at the beginning of the week, we found this quite tricky, but we persevered and by the end of the week ALL the children were having a try at subtracting independently with 100 squares, concrete objects and number lines.
In BSL this week, we learnt the first half of the alphabet. All the children listened and watched carefully, with many being able to spell names like Jack, Bill and Jill on their own. The Super sharks learnt about how to care for the world in RE and thought of some amazing ideas- some that they already do! We shared ideas like- recycling clothes and toys, not putting plastics in the ocean and turning lights of when you leave a room.
In our Mover and Shakers topic, we have moved on to looking at significant activists from the past. We started with Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, and I was amazed at how much the children already knew- clever Sharks!
Next week, we have the fire services coming in- we’re very excited!
