Sharks Aut 1 Week 1

Welcome to Year 2!

The Super Sharks have made an AMAZING start to life in year 2! We are extremely proud of how well they have settled into new classrooms and new routines- well done Sharks!

In maths, we have been learning about place value. We have learnt that two digit numbers are made of tens and ones. We used base 10 equipment to represent different two digit numbers- Cienna showed great determination and progressed from using the practical equipment to drawing a pictorial representation. 

In English, we have started work on a narrative unit. We enjoyed reading the story of The Magic Pencil and compared similarities and differences between different versions of this story. On Friday, we begun learning how to use adjectives to describe nouns. Logan really impressed us with his sentence about a slippery, silver fish!

We have also launched into our new topic called Movers and Shakers. We had a very exciting day on Monday and learnt about Christopher Columbus and Florence Nightingale- we can't wait to learn even more about them as the term goes on. A huge well done and thank you to all those who came dressed up on Monday. You looked absolutely amazing!
