Penguins Autumn 1 week 4

Date: 2nd Oct 2026 @ 12:40pm

In Maths, we have been learning about perimeter. We practised finding the perimeter of different shapes by adding the lengths of all the sides together. We also explored how to solve missing length problems.

We have also been working on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. We learned how the digits move when numbers become ten, one hundred or one thousand times bigger or smaller. We used place value charts to help us understand these changes and solve a range of challenges.

In English, we have been developing our writing and research skills. We researched Fu Hao, a powerful military leader and queen from Ancient China. We found out about her achievements, her role in the Shang Dynasty and why she is an important historical figure.

Using our research, we practised writing informative paragraphs, organising our ideas clearly and including interesting facts. We focused on using accurate vocabulary and presenting our information in an engaging way for our readers.

Next week, we will continue to build on these skills in both Maths and English. Well done to everyone for their hard work, enthusiasm and positive attitude to learning this week!

Have a wonderful weekend!
