Marvellous Meerkats Summer 2 Week 2

Date: 11th Jun 2026 @ 2:07pm

Take a look at the Marvellous Meerkats' learning this week...

This week in Year 6 has been full of curiosity, creativity, and big ideas.

In maths, we explored how to calculate the area of triangles, discovering how shapes we see every day can be broken down into simple formulas. The children worked brilliantly to spot patterns and apply their knowledge to trickier problems.

In English, we focused on grammar and began crafting an explanation text about how World War 1 began. Year 6 showed real maturity as they explored the causes of the conflict and learned how to present information clearly and logically.

Our science investigation was a colourful one — literally. We explored how humans perceive colour, carrying out practical activities to understand how our eyes and brain work together to interpret the world around us.

We’ve also begun work on our end‑of‑year production, The Greatest Show. The excitement is already building as the children start learning lines, songs, and staging. We can’t wait for you all to watch it.

A fantastic week of learning, teamwork, and curiosity.
