Clever Koalas - Summer 2 - Week 7

WELCOME to the final blog for this years Clever Koalas!! We cannot believe how fast this year has gone and what fun we have all had along the way!

The Star of the Week this week is EVERYONE for being the kindest, most inquisitive class! Mrs McIlroy and Mrs Dewsbury are going to miss you all SO much – but do not worry we are still going to be very close by!

Star Writer this week is Cora! Cora was chosen for her fantastic opening to her Little Boat story, well done for being an excellent and very naturally talented writer!

The Koalas have had an excellent last full week in Year 5, which began with them starting to create their own story map for a Little Boat story.  We watched a video of the ‘Little Boat’ story to help inspire everyone – watch the video here… https://www.literacyshed.com/little-boat.html  All of the children created excellent story maps, their use and wide range of vocabulary has been incredible, Mrs Dewsbury, Mrs McIlroy and Mrs Fox have all been blown away with the excellent descriptions!

On Wednesday this week we were lucky enough to watch the dress rehearsal of the Year 6 leavers performance. All of the Year 6 children were fab and really tried their best in front of a very large audience. Well done to all of them – I look forward to watching the Clever Koalas in theirs next year!

In Art this week we have been exploring Modern Expressionism – on Thursday everyone got the chance to edit and enhance a portrait. The children used oil pastels and letters from newspapers to create their own expressive portrait. Enthusiasm filled the classroom during the lesson with everyone being eager to start and wanting to do their absolute best!

Have an absolutely amazing summer everyone, stay safe, look after each other and most importantly have lots of fun! Well done for all your hard work in Year 5 and don’t forget we are just in the classroom next door if you need anything when you are in Year 6!
