Clever Koalas - Summer 2 - Week 1

Date: 6th Jun 2025 @ 8:31am

Firstly, a huge congratulations goes to Taylor who achieved Star Writer this week for their fantastic Greek myth. Well done Taylor.

We started this week on Tuesday after a lovely half term break! The children were very excited to be back and enjoyed sharing everything that they got up to with their friends and family’s during the week.  The koalas participated in a game of Pass The Parcel in English as the introduction to our new writing topic, this was a great, fun way to start the last half term in Year 5.

On Wednesday this week we all had a thoroughly great day at Matlock Farm Park with the weather keeping us dry for the whole day.  The children all loved being there and seeing so many different animals.  We were lucky enough to be able to feed the Meerkats some living meal worms – some of use chose to not handle this and blow them in off the wall, but we all got involved. Next, we moved to feeding some larger animals, including donkeys, sheep, goats and deer, they were fantastic. The children also got the opportunity to stroke some rabbits, guinea pigs and a tortoise! After enjoying our lunch we headed past the highland cows, horses, emus, llamas and piglets to the outside adventure playground, which was definitely a highlight of the day! The koalas loved digging in the sand and pebbles, zooming down the slides and climbing across the ropes.  After a good half an hour playing we heading to the wallaby walk-around and then to the baby chicks and ducklings! WOW! What a fantastic day, well done to everyone for their excellent behaviour and fully getting involved!

Take a look below at some of the photos which were taken.
