A big well done to Drake for achieving Star of the Week this week! He has had a fantastic couple of weeks, showing an excellent attitude to his learning. Drake has also been making a wide range of quality contributions to all of our class discussions.
Congratulations goes to Kate who achieved Star Writer this week, she has written an amazing myth and has been working SO hard on improving her handwriting.
In English this week we have been planning, writing and then publishing our character descriptions, using inspiration from The Tempest. The children have worked extremely hard on these and have enjoyed typing them up on Microsoft Word – some of them are fantastic! Well done for all of your hard work and creativity when writing these descriptions!
On Thursday the Koalas completed their weekly spelling test – the scores improved dramatically this week! A huge well done to everyone who has been taking time at home to practise these and those who have also been practising at school during reading time after lunch.
This week saw the start of a SumDog competition across all schools in The Harmony Trust – the children have been very motivated to engage in this competition. We are currently half way through the competition and so far the only class from Reigate Park on the leaderboard – Keep it up Koalas!
After half term we will enter the last half term of Year 5 – this academic year has absolutely flown by! We have lots of activities to look forward to including our Shakespeare performance and Sports Day. On the first Wednesday back we have our trip to Matlock Farm Park, which we are all looking forward to. Please remember to dress for the weather – fingers crossed for sunshine and therefore sun cream, however please pack a waterproof coat if rain is forecast.
