Clever Koalas - Summer 1 - Week 4
Date: 16th May 2025 @ 8:44am
Firstly, well done to Lakesiha for achieving Star of the Week this week! Lakesiha has been working very hard during lessons on her presentation, regardless of the lesson she always presents her work beautifully and has such pride in her school books. Congratulations for always giving 100% and focussing well in all lessons.
Another congratulations goes to Joseph who achieved Star Writer this week for their concentration when working on improving their handwriting and writing a great myth.
In Maths this week we have been recapping the different strategies for multiplication and division. Everyone has been working hard on practising their times tables to help them succeed with these problems. We spent Fluency Friday switching between both multiplication and division problems – our confidence is continuously growing with these strategies.
On Thursday in English, we explored a range of figurative language, the children displayed some excellent team work! The Koalas worked in groups to create different examples in relation to characters from the Tempest. Some fantastic similes, hyperboles and metaphors were written ready for their character descriptions next week.
In Topic this week we learnt all about how the Ancient Greeks were the first to use democracy within their society. We learnt all about the different ways democracy looked liked in Athens and how it has changed over time. The children then discussed debates and how they help democracy, please talk about debates at home with your children and let us know if you think of any interesting debates, we can take part in at school.
Have a lovely weekend!
