Clever Koalas - Summer 1 - Week 4

Star of the Week this week is Jaxon, congratulations!! Jaxon, has been working really hard to improve his writing, he has been focusing on producing more work and ensuring that he uses a wide range of vocabulary, well done Jaxon! Take a look at his super character description below of King Claudius from Hamlet.

Star Writer this week is Harmony, she like Jaxon produced an excellent character description, which the children typed up to place next to their drawing of their character from Hamlet.  Well done Harmony for an excellent description of Ophelia.

In English this week the Koalas have started a new unit all about Greek Myths, they have explored a number of different myths including Perseus and Medusa.  The children have really enjoyed the start of this unit so far and have had fun reading, discussing the different myths and the mythical creatures within them.

In Topic we have continued our learning on the Groundbreaking Greeks – on Thursday we looked at how the Ancient Greeks first began democracy. We discussed all the important parts of a debate and the rules around one. The Koalas watched and contributed to a debate all around whether homework should be banned from primary schools, a lot of valid points were made with the verdict being that homework should be banned!
