Clever Koalas - Summer 1 - Week 1
Date: 17th Apr 2026 @ 9:53am
Welcome back to the start of the Summer Term! We hope you are had a fantastic Easter break, enjoyed some sunshine and spending time with family and friends!
This week the Star Writer, Theo was chosen to due to his publishing work before the Easter break, well done to Theo for their excellent scientific knowledge and super chronological report!
On Tuesday this week we celebrated everything Greek in Year 5! Thank you so much to everyone who dressed up and participated in this day – all of the children really enjoyed it! We started the day by completing some Greek based maths and then completing some writing in Greek. Everyone created their own bookmark and wrote their own name in Greek and in English. We also spent time making our own laurel wreaths to wear on our heads to look even more like an Ancient Greek. The Koalas worked in teams during the day to complete a Design and Technology challenge to create a bridge using only paper and tape – weights were used to check the strength of the bridges.
The Koalas have fully began immersing themselves in Hamlet with Miss Meredith this week, this has involved acting, exploring the story and whooshing! Please ask the children what this means and hopefully they will be able to explain this to you!
Have a lovely weekend!
