Welcome back after the half term break, we are now officially half way through Year 5!!
Congratulations to Alex for being chosen as our Star Writer this week – Alex has published an excellent newspaper report and has been putting lots of effort into his handwriting, well done Alex!
The Koalas started a new P.E programme this half term with Tommy from the Derby County Community Trust – Joy of Moving Project, we will be participating in this every Tuesday afternoon. The children absolutely loved their first session on Tuesday this week and were all fully engaged, we are all excited to complete the project!
In English this week we started a new text type: Chronological Report. The Koalas are going to be linking their knowledge from Science lessons to write a report all about the Human Lifecyle. In Science this week we began learning about how the human body changes and ages over a lifetime, this learning is going to inform our reports in English.
On Thursday in Science will observed reception and Year 1 children to help us understand the development from an infant to an adolescent. The Koalas took notes on the children’s reading, moving, talking and independence – it was a great afternoon and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Don’t forget next Thursday (5th March) is World Book Day, we look forward to hearing about everyone’s favourite books and immersing ourselves in reading activities for the day!
