Clever Koalas - Spring 1 - Week 4

An big well done to Leonard for been chosen to receive Star of the Week this week! Leonard always puts 100% into his learning and listens well to al instructions given, he shows super manners and is always kind of others. Well done for a superstar all of the time Leonard!

In Maths on Fridays we have been participating in 'Fluency Friday', this is where the children practise their key maths skills. This half term we have been relooking at multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000. This skills can be applied in many areas of maths and is vital for the childrens understanding of number of place value. We have completed many practical lessons to help us remember these skiils. 

In English we started the week by publishing our diary entries! These look fantastic, the Koalas have used a wide range of vocabulary and also ensured it was written with an informal tone.  At the end of the week we looked at newspaper reports – we are still focusing on the book ‘Farm By’ but this time we are going to be writing a newspaper report about one of the events from the book.

Year 5 came together on Thursday afternoon for an art lesson in the studio! We were studying still life and different techniques we could use to create shade, shadow and colour. All of year 5 thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, they had a range of fruit to draw around the studio, including, bananas, grapes, oranges, pears, apples and a pineapple! There was even a pineapple and watermelon cuddly toy! See some of the pictures below!
