Clever Koalas - Autumn 2 - Week 1

Welcome back from half term, we hope everyone enjoyed their slightly extended week off school and that lots of safe fun was had trick or treating!!  The children have returned into the Koalas class well and have remembered our routines.

Star Writer this week was Jemima, well done for being selected this time! Jemima has received a pen licence already this year and has shown her beautiful handwriting across all her subjects, well done Jemima!

In Whole Class Reading this week we have been reading and exploring a book all about Space to link with our English topic and Science! The children have loved learning all about the different planets and predicting what we might learn more about from the front cover.

In English the Koalas received a very exciting letter from The National Space Center in Leicester! They were aware of our learning this half term and would like us to send them a report on what we have learnt about Space. We have started learning about the structure of a non-chronological report and reading some good examples.

In Topic we have started our Science learning all about the Planets and Earth to support our writing in English. We began by going outside and exploring all the different planets in our solar system, including the Sun and how far away each planet is from it! See the phot below! We then conducted an investigation on how we know that the Earth and the other planets are spherical. Everyone has loved the Science so far and we cannot wait to do more next week!!
